Psalms 41:1-3 "Blessed is he who considers the poor;
The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive,
And he will be blessed on the earth;
You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
3 The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness;
You will sustain him on his sickbed."
Wherever we go, we find homeless and poor people reaching out for help. At traffic signals we can find small children, nursing mothers, physically disabled, elderly asking for alms. Our churches and societies also have people who can use a little help. There are struggling single parents, elderly widows who have none to help or care for, children who are not able to pay their tuitions.
The Bible encourages us to help the poor, and attaches blessings to it:
SEVEN BLESSINGS OF HELPING THE POOR:
Pleases God:
Bountiful harvest.
The Lord will deliver him in time of troubles.
The Lord will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.
Blessed on earth.
The Lord will strengthen him.
The Lord will sustain him on the sickbed.
However, there are so many schemers and con artists out on the road, who wants some easy money. Giving them would be like sowing in infertile soil, which may not yield a bountiful harvest.
HOW TO GIVE?
Be spirit led in your giving.
Give to the charity department of your church.
Give to any organization that really works among the poor and vulnerable people group.
Give food packets, or clothes or gifts in kind rather than cash.
It is a blessing to give rather than receive and God wants you to be a giver and never a borrower.
